RIDLEY-THOMAS AND ANTONOVICH MOVE NEW OPTIONS TO FUND CRENSHAW TRANSIT CORRIDOR & GOLD LINE EXTENSION

LOS ANGELES COUNTY – The Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a motion by Supervisors Ridley-Thomas and Antonovich directing the Chief Executive Officer and the Federal Advocacy Office to work with the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) to pursue federal sources to close funding gaps in the MTA’s Long Range Transportation Plan for the Gold Line Extension and Crenshaw/LAX Transit Corridor.

These funding sources include the federal reauthorization, federal climate change transit funds, federal stimulus funds, and other federal funds.

Currently, the Gold Line Foothill Extension Project requires gap funding of $400 million to extend the line from Pasadena to Claremont and the San Bernardino County line.  The Crenshaw/LAX Transit Corridor requires an additional $485 million to mitigate public safety concerns and economic impact.
