Founded in 2004, Casa Cultura is a neighborhood art center promoting art and culture, and nurturing young artists from the Saybrook Park and East Los Angeles community and beyond. Founder Guadalupe Bojorquez and daughter Beatrice Bojorquez established the art center to offer neighborhood children and youths the opportunity to learn about diverse cultures through arts and music programs, and to acquire skills in layout and design, sketching and drawing, and painting in watercolor and acrylic. Throughout the year, professional artists visit with students and share their artistic knowledge and techniques. Also, students visit museums, art galleries, and art festivals; and participate in art contests. Proceeds from the silent auction will benefit Casa Cultura. -end-
