Linda Fujioka, mother of County Chief Executive Officer Bill Fujioka, recognized in honor of the posthumous awarding of an honorary degree from UC Berkeley to her late husband, William Fujioka, whose education was interrupted by the internment of Japanese-Americans during World War II.
Report to be given on issues relating to transition to new LAC+USC Medical Center. (Item S-1, 11 a.m.)
Approval sought to raise fees for regular marriage licenses from $70 to $90, and confidential marriage licenses from $70 to $85, to cover costs of administering services. (Item 1)
Recommendation would approve road safety audit along Summit Knoll Road in Agua Dulce to address traffic safety concerns. (Item 2)
Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich requests legal steps be taken to challenge the proposed Southern California Edison project to provide electrical infrastructure to transmit electricity created from wind power involving Kern/L.A./Riverside counties. (Item 3)
Supervisors Zev Yaroslavsky and Mark Ridley-Thomas request support for California Secretary of State Debra Bowen’s election day registration bill, which would allow citizens to register and vote on the same day, in effort to increase participation in the democratic process. Supervisor Don Knabe requests adopting/incorporating the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation’s strategic plan into the County’s overall strategic plan. (Item 5)
Action would merge Commission on Alcoholism with Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Commission. (Items 6, 27, cont. from 12/15)
Maximum four-year $4.1 million proposal would fund contract to develop/implement/maintain computer system to target fraud in CalWORKs child care program. (Item 9)
Three-year maximum $17.5 million contract would provide for continuation of services by 211 LA County to provide health and human services information and referrals to public. (Item 11)
Recommendation calls for appointing Rigoberto Reyes as acting director of consumer affairs, at annual salary of $121,920, effective Jan. 6, 2010. (Item 12)
$235,992 settlement proposed involving claim arising from loss or theft of vendor’s surgical medical supplies that were in the custody/control of the LAC+USC Medical Center. (Item 20)
