NOMINATION PERIOD OPEN FOR THE LONG BEACH UNIFIED AND COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT ELECTIONS

NOMINATION PERIOD OPEN FOR THE LONG BEACH UNIFIED AND COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT ELECTIONS

Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk (RR/CC) Dean Logan announced that persons intending to run for office in the April 13, 2010 Long Beach Unified School District Board of Education Election and Long Beach Community College District Board of Trustees Election may begin filing nomination papers beginning Monday, December 21, 2009 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. 

The Unified School District Election is being held for the purpose of electing three members to the Board of Education, districts 1, 3 and 5.  The Community College District Election is being held for the purpose of electing three members to the Board of Trustees, trustee areas 1, 3 and 5.  The deadline for filing candidate nomination papers is Friday, January 15, 2010 at 5:00 p.m.

Detailed information regarding the candidate filing process is available on the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk website www.lavote.net (https://lavote.net/SECURED/CANREG/).  Nomination documents must be filed at the RR/CC Headquarters, 12400 Imperial Highway, Norwalk, Election Information Section, Second floor, Room 2013, no later than 5:00 pm on January 15, 2010. 

Candidates can authorize another person to pick up their nomination documents from the RR/CC Norwalk location and return the signed documents by completing an authorization form.

 

 An authorization form is available for downloading from the RR/CC website using the Candidate Filing link, or can be obtained in person at the RR/CC Headquarters in Norwalk.

The Unified School District and Community College District elections will be held in consolidation with the primary nominating election held in the City of Long Beach.
