$300,000 proposed for grants to low-to-moderate income homeowners in Lennox/Athens/Del Aire to install/implement environmentally sustainable features in their homes. (Item 1-D) APPROVED

 

$16.8 million proposal would fund acquisition/redevelopment of foreclosed properties that might otherwise become sources of abandonment/urban blight. (Items 2-D, 53) COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION CONT. TO 11/25

 

$7.1 million proposal would fund site acquisition/construction of new Compton library. (Item 2) APPROVED 5-0

 

Extension of $10,000 reward proposed for information leading to the arrest/conviction of person(s) responsible for the murder of Jamiel Andre Shaw, who was shot in the 2100 block of 5th Avenue near the Santa Monica Freeway on March 2.  (Item 3) APPROVED

 

Supervisor Yvonne B. Burke requests that women seeking services at sexually transmitted disease clinics also be able to receive services such as Pap tests as part of same visit.   (Item 4) APPROVED

 

Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky requests plan to use $10.5 million received in electricity rate overcharging settlement for energy conservation projects.   (Item 5) APPROVED

 

Supervisor Don Knabe proposes renaming Admiralty Park in Marina del Rey as Yvonne B. Burke Park in honor of the outgoing supervisor.  (Item 6) APPROVED 5-0

 

Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich requests pursuing state legislation to shorten the deadline for birth parents to appeal the termination of their parental rights from 60-70 days to a maximum of 30 days.  (Item 10) APPROVED 5-0

Supervisors asked to approve revised Marina del Rey Affordable Housing Policy, which requires preservation of affordable housing in new developments and redevelopments, as well as settlement agreement.  (Item 17) APPROVED

 

Recommendation calls for termination of earthquake repair projects at Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration, Stanley Mosk Courthouse and Hall of Justice due to more critical funding needs.  (Item 21) APPROVED 5-0 AMENDMENT BY MOLINA TO ASK FEDERAL GOVERNMENT FOR EXTENSION OF TIME TO RECEIVE GRANTS FOR THE EARTHQUAKE REPAIR PROJECTS

 

$9 million proposal would fund additional as-needed services related to eCAPS, the County’s payroll system, upping budget to $160.2 million.   (Item 24) AUDITOR CONT. TO 11/25

Supervisors asked to approve development of community-wide home visitation program and related services in effort to identify/address issues that may lead to child abuse.  (Item 30, cont. from 10/21, 11/5) PUBLIC HEALTH CONT. TO 12/2

 

Acceptance of $421,505 in grants would fund purchase of computers, furniture, and library materials for the Pico Rivera and San Gabriel libraries.  (Items 35, 36) APPROVED

 

$12.7 million proposal would fund construction of new fire station in Santa Clarita and set Dec. 16 for bid opening. (Item 37) APPROVED

 

Exclusive trash franchise recommended for Hacienda Heights.  (Item 38, cont. from 11/5) KNABE CONT. TO 11/25

 

$2.8 million proposal would fund purchase and installation of modular living units at two juvenile detention facilities in Lancaster and Bouquet Canyon to relieve staff overcrowding issues.  (Item 40) APPROVED

 

$600,000 proposal would fund installation of an automated weather observation system at each of the County’s four airports in La Verne, Compton, El Monte and Pacoima.  (Item 41) APPROVED

 

Recommendation calls for increasing yearly contract by $123,869 to expand service hours of South Whittier shuttle.  (Item 45) APPROVED

 

$700,000 proposal would fund construction of tennis courts at Dr. Richard H. Rioux Memorial Park in Stevenson Ranch.   (Item 48) APPROVED, WITH BID OPENING AMENDED TO DEC. 17

 

$7.3 million proposal would purchase vehicle equipment and self -contained breathing apparatus to assist the Fire Department in responding to terrorist/hazmat fire incidents.  (Item 55) APPROVED 5-0

 

$290,000 settlement proposed for lawsuit arising from injuries sustained while walking in a County-maintained property.  (Item 62) APPROVED

 

Acceptance of $700,000 settlement from Shell Oil Company and City of Bell proposed for County lawsuit concerning the remediation of environmental contamination at the former BKK Main Street Landfill.  (Item 63) APPROVED

 

Ordinance would establish green-building, low-impact development and drought-tolerant landscaping standards in unincorporated areas.  (Item 75) APPROVED

 

Report scheduled on a development/implementation plan relating to establishment of the Green Building Task Force.   (Item 76) RECEIVED AND FILED

 

Board to ask state for additional public health funding to assist with substantial number of prisoners being released from state correctional facilities.  (Item 77-A)  APPROVED

 

Extension recommended of $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Florencio Zendejas, accused in fatal hit-and-run accident which led to death of Benita Estrada, 15, and severe injuries to her sister Veronica, 13, in Compton on Aug. 9. (Item 77-B) APPROVED

 

Proposal calls for extension of $10,000 reward for information leading to arrest and conviction of person(s) responsible for murder of three persons and injury to another at a gathering for car enthusiasts in unincorporated area at Western Avenue and Imperial Highway.  (Item 77-C) APPROVED

 

Supervisors asked to ratify local emergency declaration made on Nov. 15 as results of fires.  (Motion brought in) APPROVED 5-0

 

Review requested of cause of failure of emergency generators and fuel pump systems at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center during Nov.14 fire, and development of plans for the reconstruction of child care center damaged in the fire.  (Motion brought in).  APPROVED 5-0

 

Board asks recommendations be prepared to change County codes for mobile homes and mobile home parks in high fire hazard areas to reduce vulnerability to fire.  (Motion brought in)  APPROVED 5-0

 

$20,000 reward proposed for information leading to the arrest and conviction of person(s) responsible for the murder of five persons in a homeless encampment in Long Beach on Nov. 2.  (Motion brought in)  APPROVED 5-0
