First Class Graduates from Vocational Certification Program
in Compton on Thursday, November 13th
Program is Part of County's Prevention Initiative Demonstration Project
WHAT: As part of Los Angeles County's Prevention Initiative Demonstration Project (PIDP), a partnership between the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and community partners, A.S.K. (Ask, Seek, Knock) will graduate the first class from its Vocational Certification Program on Thursday, November 13, 2008, from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at Wilson Park Auditorium, 123 South Rose Ave. in Compton. Graduating classes include Medical Billing, Business Office Communication and Fiber Optics.
A.S.K. is a collaborative of community-based organizations, DCFS, foundations and others working to support the children and families in South Los Angeles. The collaborative is part of PIDP.
PIDP is a $5-million child abuse and neglect prevention project led by community-based providers selected in each of the County's eight regional Service Planning Areas. PIDP provides an opportunity for government to partner with community-based networks of support for children and families to ensure child safety and well being before the onset of a crisis involving abuse and neglect.
