ACADEMY CLASS #374 TO HONOR
FALLEN DEPUTY JUAN ABEL ESCALANTE
WHO: CAPTAIN GREGORY ADAMS, TRAINING BUREAU, AND THE SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT TRAINING ACADEMY STAFF.
WHAT: ACADEMY CLASS #374 WILL BE HOSTING THEIR COLORS RUN WHICH WILL START AT RIO DE LOS ANGELES PARK, LOS ANGELES, AT 6:30 A.M. THE ACADEMY CLASS HAS DEDICATED THEIR CLASS IN HONOR OF FALLEN DEPUTY JUAN ABEL ESCALANTE, WHO WAS ASSIGNED TO MEN’S CENTRAL JAIL. DEPUTY ESCALANTE WAS TRAGICALLY SHOT AND KILLED IN FRONT OF HIS HOUSE ON AUGUST 3, 2008.
ALL SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT PERSONNEL ARE INVITED TO RUN THIS 5-MILE COURSE THROUGH THE NEIGHBORHOOD WHERE DEPUTY ESCALANTE WAS KILLED. THE CLASS WILL MAKE A BRIEF STOP AT THE SITE OF DEPUTY ESCALANTE’S MURDER FOR A MOMENT OF SILENCE. AFTER THE RUN, ALL DEPARTMENT MEMBERS, FRIENDS AND FAMILY ARE WELCOMED TO ATTEND A PANCAKE BREAKFAST AT RIO DE LOS ANGELES PARK.
