SENIORS TO OBSERVE AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY MONTH

 

WHAT:             County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas, Second District, and Cynthia D. Banks, Los Angeles County Community and Senior Services (CSS) Director, will join more than 600 seniors, local elected officials, and civic and religious leaders in paying tribute to the late Congresswoman Juanita Millender-McDonald at  the 38TH annual senior citizens observance of African American History Month.

 

WHEN:             Thursday, February 19, 2009, at 11:00 a.m.

 

WHERE:           Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation

                        Athens Park Auditorium

                        Los Angeles, CA  90061

 

WHY:               The observance serves as an occasion for older persons, who have contributed to improving the quality of life for other seniors, an opportunity to assemble and celebrate African American History Month.
