LOS ANGELES (February 2, 2008) – Los Angeles County Supervisor Gloria Molina launches campaign with 400 elementary school students and community leaders in Florence-Firestone to introduce her “Green Bags for a Clean Earth” campaign. Students will learn about the negative impacts plastic bags have on the environment and join team of “Earth Defenders” to help promote the use of canvas bags in place of single-use bags.
“We want to begin behavioral change regarding environmental responsibility by initiating a whole new generation of earth defenders,” said Molina. “By learning early and helping us educate parents through their children about the importance of reusable bags, young people are leading the charge in preserving a “greener” earth for their generation and generations to come,” said Molina.
