“SAFE DRUG DROP-OFF” PROGRAM

IT’S TIME TO CLEAN OUT YOUR MEDICINE CABINET

 

WHO:              SHERIFF LEE BACA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT;
ASSISTANT DEPUTY DIRECTOR PAT PROANO, LOS ANGELES COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS; PROJECT ENGINEER DEBBIE BOADWAY, LOS ANGELES COUNTY SANITATION DISTRICT; DIVISION CHIEF DUSTY CRANE, LOS ANGELES COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF BEACHES AND HARBORS; VICE PRESIDENT OF PUBLIC RELATIONS TEDDY CHAMBERS, NARCONON INTERNATIONAL; COUNCILMEMBER MARGARET ESTRADA, CITY OF LOMITA; MAYOR JUDY MITCHELL, ROLLING HILLS ESTATES; AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR JACKI BACHARACH, SOUTH BAY CITIES COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS.

 

WHAT:            THE “SAFE DRUG DROP-OFF” PROGRAM, PRESENTED BY THE
LOS ANGELES COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS, WILL PROVIDE A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY FOR RESIDENTS TO SAFELY AND ANONYMOUSLY DROP-OFF EXPIRED OR UNUSED PRESCRIPTIONS, OVER-THE-COUNTER MEDICATIONS, SYRINGES (SHARPS), AND ANY OTHER CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES.  THE GOALS OF THE PROGRAM INCLUDE PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT AND ENSURING THE SAFETY OF THE PUBLIC.
