BACKGROUND:

In light of Iranian leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s outspoken hostility to Israel, his anti-Semitic comments and open skepticism about the Holocaust, continuing human rights violations by the Iranian regime and his nation’s relentless drive to develop a nuclear capability, Los Angeles civic and community leaders are united in the effort to advance legislative initiatives and a multi-point plan for activists in the broad-based effort to prevent a nuclear Iran. We urge the Los Angeles community to exert meaningful diplomatic and economic pressure, which should include divesting public pension fund holdings of companies doing business in the Iranian energy sector.
