Thursday, September 3, 2007 at 10:00 am
What: East Los Angeles residents join Los Angeles County Supervisor Gloria
Molina in dedicating East L.A.’s newest Metro bus layover facility. The
improvement project is now a quaint and small park-like setting with public
art where bus commuters can comfortably rest on a hot summer or cold
winter day while waiting for the bus. Staging areas, commuter seating, and
operator restroom facilities highlight the bus layover site.
Surrounding to the Bus layover facility is a concrete block fence that features
a community painted mural of leaves found in East L.A. neighborhoods.
Others joining Molina at the dedication include; officials from County of Los
Angeles Department of Public works, Metro, the LA County Art Commission
and members of the community.
When: Thursday, September 3, 2007 at 10:00 a.m.
Where: 425N Rowan Ave, Los Angeles, CA (north of E. Cesar Chavez Rd.)
Parking located at Iglesia Pan Americana Cuadrangular
(across the street from the bus layover site)
Visuals: Vibrant Artist designed wall, as community members paint in finishing
touches. Metro bus pulling into the new bus Layover station.
As a thriving unincorporated community, East Los Angeles is an example of
innovated and responsible community development.
