DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS
(Part-time – 20 hours per week)

General Job Summary:
Responsible for the coordination and execution of a wide range of written and oral communications and publications projects from inception to delivery. This individual will help shape the Association’s overall communications strategy with all media and to our members, stakeholders and general public. Write, develop and execute a variety of member-oriented materials and media. Collaborate and consult with internal Association departments and with the Association’s officers and board to evaluate and update existing communications strategies and products.  

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop press releases and other press materials.
  • Build relationships with key press outlets and monitor media coverage.
  • Compose communications for general public and member education.
  • Develop and coordinate print and web communications strategy for Association including website, newsletters, articles, reports, event and program flyers and brochures.
  • Evaluate and help modify communication processes and strategies.
  • Document communication processes and policies.
  • Support the promotion of key Association events.
  • Coordinate production and distribution of all membership communications.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • B.A. or higher degree in Communications/Marketing.
  • A minimum of five years experience in corporate association or non-profit communications and public or media relations.
  • Excellent writing, editing and interpersonal communications skills required.
  • Website management, graphic design a plus.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects, and priorities while working on a deadline.
  • Excellent organizational skills with mature judgment and excellent follow through in all areas of responsibility.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
