COUNTY SEEKING POLLWORKERS FOR THE
JUNE 8, 2010 PRIMARY ELECTION
Dean Logan, Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk (RR/CC), called on registered voters to support the democratic process by signing up to serve as Pollworkers in the upcoming June 8th Statewide Direct Primaries. About 1,350 pollworkers are still needed in various cities throughout the county.
Registrar Logan, called on registered voters in hard-to-recruit areas to support the election as pollworkers: Long Beach (150), Marina Del Rey (25), Palos Verdes Estates (20), Rancho Palos Verdes (15), Torrance (30), Castaic (15), Glendora (40), Monrovia (20), Pasadena (60), Santa Clarita (50), San Fernando Valley (150), the City of Los Angeles (800).
Logan said, “The contributions that Pollworkers make, not only show their dedication to community service, but are the key ingredient to the strength and success of our democratic process.” Pollworkers must be available to serve between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. Pollworkers are compensated $80 for working Election Day, plus $25 for attending a 1-1/2 hour training session.
Training sessions are conducted throughout Los Angeles County in the days prior to the election. A schedule of classes, pollworker training videos, and training materials can be found on the RR/CC’s website www.lavote.net under Pollworker Information in the Highlights box towards the bottom of the main page.
