CS-1. CONFERENCE WITH LEGAL COUNSEL – EXISTING LITIGATION

King-Drew Medical Foundation, Inc. v County of Los Angeles,
Los Angeles Superior Court Case No. BC 364109
This litigation involves breach of contract allegations arising from the
agreement between the County and the King-Drew Medical
Foundation. (10-1118)
The Board authorized settlement of the lawsuit titled King-Drew
Medical Foundation, Inc. v. County of Los Angeles. The
substance of the settlement will be disclosed upon inquiry by
any person as soon as the settlement becomes final following
approval by all parties. The vote of the Board was 4 – 1 with
Supervisor Ridley-Thomas abstaining.

The Board authorized County Counsel to initiate litigation. Details will
be made available upon request, once the litigation is formally
commenced. The vote of the Board was unanimous with all
Supervisors being present.

Discussion with the Interim Director of Health Services, the Acting Medical
Director and the Chief Executive Officer on the findings of the quality
assurance reviews related to the provision of care at the facility’s Olive
View Medical Center’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. (101096)
