ANTONOVICH SPONSORS SUMMER YOUTH INTERN PROGRAM AT COUNTY PARKS

 

LOS ANGELES COUNTY – In a competitive process, sixty-five young people were chosen to participate in a summer program sponsored by Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich that offers training, experience and opportunities working with the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation at parks throughout the Fifth District including:

 

Antelope Valley:  George Lane Park, Jackie Robinson Park, Stephen Sorensen Park, Acton Park, Pearblossom Park, Apollo Park

 

Santa Clarita Valley: Castaic Lake Park, Castaic Sports Complex, Hart Park, Tesoro Park, Val Verde Park, Richard Rioux Park

 

Foothill Communities: Crescenta Valley Park, Eaton Canyon Park, Farnsworth Park, Loma Alta Park, Charles White Park, Veterans Park

 

San Gabriel Valley:  Arcadia Park, Bonelli Park, Charter Oak Park, Pamela Park, San Dimas Park

 

Participating youth are currently enrolled in high school or college and between the ages of 16 and 24 and will assist Parks staff with:

 

·      presentation of arts, dance, music, and theater programs

·      development of special recreation programs for seniors, youth, and the handicapped

·      planning and coordination of community center athletic activities and tournaments, leagues and contests.
