Washington Preparatory High School senior Tyki Nelworth recognized for receiving a full scholarship to the United States Military Academy at West Point.
County Department of Mental Health employees Jimmey Lora and Shawn Kim honored for exhibiting courage and professionalism during a home invasion while responding to a routine crisis evaluation call on March 29.
Report to be given on an automated early detection/rapid all-weather 24-hour response alert system to suppress forest/brush fires. (Item S-1, 11 a.m.) APPROVED REPORT
Proposal would approve various actions required for the administration of the FY 2010-11 Action Plan by the Community Development Commission. (Items 1-D, 2-D, 1-H, 7) APPROVED
Approval sought to buy vacant Community Development Commission building in Willowbrook for $1 and construct new South Health Center for the treatment of communicable diseases. (Items 3-D, 8) APPROVED

Supervisors asked to revise/implement new fees charged by the Department of Regional Planning for development projects. (Items 10, 29, cont. from 4/27) APPROVED 3-2, WITH ANTONOVICH AND KNABE OPPOSED, AS AMENDED BY RIDLEY-THOMAS THAT REVIEW PROCESS BE REDUCED TO SIX MONTHS FROM 14 MONTHS
Supervisor Don Knabe recommends support for the Port of Long Beach’s request to include Los Angeles County within the service area of Foreign Trade Zone 50, which would allow the port to apply for authority to serve sites within the County. (Item 12) APPROVED
Supervisors Zev Yaroslavsky and Michael D. Antonovich request agreement allowing the County to become a member of the San Fernando Valley Council of Governments to help address traffic, economic development and housing issues. (Item 17) APPROVED
Acceptance of $30 million federal Stimulus grant would fund implementation of energy-efficiency improvement programs for property owners throughout the state, including $14 million in County of Los Angeles. (Item 20) APPROVED
