Hawaiian Garden Officials and Supervisor Knabe to Honor Deputy Freddy Brown

Public asked to assist the Tarin Family

 

Hawaiian Gardens, May 13, 2010 - Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe and members of the Hawaiian Gardens City Council will honor Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff Freddy Brown on for his heroic actions last week in Hawaiian Gardens. The ceremony will take place in at Board of Supervisors meeting on Tues., May 18 at 9:30 a.m.

 

Deputy Brown is being honored for subduing a Montebello man, 26-year-old Joseph who was allegedly killing his former girlfriend, her brother and her father and critically wounded their mother before being shot by Deputy Brown. a sheriff's deputy. Six other family members, including an infant escaped due to the actions of Deputy Brown.

 

Sadly, Serena Tarin, 24, and her brother, Alfredo Tarin Jr., 19 along with Alfredo Tarin Sr. were killed. Hawaiian Gardens City leaders have established a memorial fund at Bank of the West to assist with burial expenses of the three people who were killed in what the Sheriff’s Department said was apparently motivated by a romantic dispute.
