SUBJECT:                 JUNE 8, 2010 PRIMARY ELECTION – COMMUNICATION

                                    ARRANGEMENTS DEADLINE 5/21/10

 

The Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk (RR/CC) is in the process of making preparations for the Primary Election to be held on June 8, 2010.  The RR/CC Headquarters at 12400 Imperial Highway, Norwalk, will have a special area in operation for the press on Election Night.  A space will be reserved for your use and credentials issued upon receipt of the completed RR/CC Reservation Form attached.  News media representatives assigned by their organizations to cover the election from the RR/CC Headquarters must carry the credentials issued by this office. The credentials, which are necessary for security purposes, will admit your personnel into the press area. 

 

Election results will be made available approximately every 20-30 minutes via Internet on individual personal computers in the press area.  Printouts, if needed, will also be available.  Those covering the election from locations other than the RR/CC Headquarters can access the RR/CC website at www.lavote.net for results.  Additionally, abbreviated result updates will be available via twitter (http://twitter.com/lacountyrrcc).  All electronic results are provided in real-time.

 

The deadline to fax/email your completed RR/CC Reservation Form to reserve space and obtain credentials is Friday, May 21, 2010.

 

News agencies must make their own arrangements for the installation of telephone lines and instruments or other required equipment. Installation of telephone lines can be requested through Verizon by filling out the Verizon Form attached and faxing it to (805) 375-9293, attention: Ms. Berdy Scanlan. Requests by phone will not be taken.  However, if you have questions regarding this service you may contact Ms. Scanlan at (800) 344-4831 extension 2077.

Note:  You cannot operate an instrument unless arrangements have been made with Verizon for installation of a line.  You must bring your own instrument (with cord), or lease one through an AT&T phone center.  Use of cell phones is allowed.  A limited number of pay telephones will be available for those not requiring special installations.  Orders for broadcast loops or data circuits should be placed through your agency’s regular contact.

 

The deadline to fax your completed Verizon form for installation of a phone line is Friday, May 21, 2010.
