May 28    

 

6:00 p.m.  Memorial Day Tribute honoring all City of Carson Veterans who died in service to their Country at Veterans Sports Complex, 2400 Moneta Avenue, Carson, California. All ages welcome, entertainment and guest speakers. Call Veterans Park, (310) 830-9991 for more information.

 

May 29

 

10:00 a.m.   Supervisor Antonovich’s 13th Annual “Remembering Our Veterans and Their Families, Past, Present and Future” Fair Day, Arcadia County Park, located at 405 S. Santa Anita Avenue, Arcadia, CA 91006.  Call (626) 967-1441 or (909) 394-2264 for more information. Bring a duplicate military photo to be placed on the “Wall of Remembrance”.

 

The Queen Mary will offer FREE admission to all U.S. active and retired military personnel for a special celebration honoring the military, and the ship's history as a military carrier over Memorial Day Weekend, May 29-31, 2010. Regular admission prices for all others. General Admission includes a self-guided tour and the Ghosts & Legends Show.  VALID Military ID MUST be provided during normal attraction operating hours from 10am to 6pm to receive this special discount.

 

May 30

 

10:00 a.m63rd Annual Memorial Day observance and Commemoration of Medal of Honor Recipient PFC Eugene Obregon USMC. The event includes a 24-hour patriotic vigil at the Mexican All Wars Memorial at Cinco Puntos (Intersection of Lorena, Indiana, and Chavez).  4:00 p.m. Project: Hollywood Cares will host a Memorial Day Service sponsored by Fountain of Life at the Fountain of Life Church, 13518 Biola Avenue, La Mirada, CA 90638.  Following the program will be a fun filled evening with complementary food, music, contests and games. May 31     Memorial Day Observed

 

ALL DAY   Knott’s Berry Farm and Knott’s Soak City will offer  FREE admission to active and retired United States Military personnel on Sunday and Monday of the Memorial Day weekend.  In addition, these military

            personnel will be able to purchase up to six discounted admission tickets for Knott’s Berry Farm for only $29.99 for each regular adult ticket and $23.99 for each regular adult Knott’s Soak City ticket.  VALID military ID must be presented.

            The Canoga Park Memorial Day Festival will take place on Sherman Way (between Topanga and Canoga avenues).  Features will include music, food, a children’s playground, vendors, community groups and military equipment.  It will also display a memorial wall naming each veteran from the San Fernando Valley who died in military service.

            Memorial Day Ceremony at Serbian Cemetery in East Los Angeles.  The location is across the street from 183 N. Humphreys Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90022. Since the cemetery has no address, it is bounded by Eastern Ave (on the west), N. Humphreys Ave. ( on the east), E. 2nd St. (on the north), and E. 3rd St. ( on the south) This is very close to the 710 Long Beach Freeway and E. 3rd St. in East L.A.
