NOMINATION PERIOD OPEN FOR ARCADIA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
BOARD OF EDUCATION ELECTION ON APRIL 19, 2011
Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk (RR/CC) Dean Logan announced today that persons intending to run for office in the Arcadia Unified School District Board of Education Election on April 19, 2011, may begin filing nomination documents beginning Monday, December 27, 2010 through Friday, January 21, 2011 with the RR/CC at 12400 Imperial Highway, Norwalk, CA 90650, 2nd Floor, Room 2013, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The school district election is being held to elect three members to the Board of Education. Candidates must be registered voters residing within the district at the time nomination documents are issued and must be otherwise qualified to vote for the office for which he or she is filing. A minimum of 20 to a maximum of 30 nominating signatures is required. There is no filing fee. The term of office is for four years beginning on or before the 2nd Tuesday in July following the election.
If nomination documents for an incumbent are not filed by 5 p.m. on January 21, the nomination period shall be extended until Wednesday, January 26 until 5 p.m., for persons other than the incumbent. If the number of persons who have been nominated to the offices does not exceed the number to be filled, appointment to the elective offices may be made as prescribed by Section 10299 of the California Elections Code. The three candidates receiving the highest number of votes cast at the April 19th election are elected to fill the offices.
