COLLABORATIVE 16 HOUR VOTER REGISTRATION DRIVE A SUCCESS

More than 17,000 voter registration forms were collected by the office during the Close of Registration period on Monday October 18, 2010.  Monday was the last day for eligible citizens not registered to vote in California to register in order to vote in the upcoming November 2nd General Election.

On Monday more than a dozen voter registration sites were set up to assist voters all day, up until midnight.  Sites included local DMV offices, City Halls, and community organizations.  The 16 hour voter registration drive was a collaboration between the Registrar -Recorder/County Clerk, local Department of Motor Vehicle offices, City Clerks in Glendale, Pomona, West Hollywood, and the community organizations AltaMed, El Centro del Pueblo, the League of Women Voters,  NALEO Educational Fund, and Voto Latino.

"Every election is important for our community, County, and State and every Vote Counts.  The efforts of our office and partners are helping to ensure that every eligible citizen in the County had easy access to the process," said Dean Logan Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk.

During the period from September to October 18, 2010 the RR/CC has received more than 150,000 voter registration forms in anticipation of the November 2, 2010 General Election.  "We are encouraged by the level of participation on the part of eligible citizens and are working diligently to process these voter registration forms so that voters can have a voice this election," added Logan.

The Department would like to remind voters who registered on October 18, 2010 that they can access a copy of their official sample ballot and locate their polling place online at www.lavote.net.  Late registrants should also remember that if their name does not appear on the roster of voters that they have a right to cast a provisional ballot.   The online services below are available to these new voters.  Voters can use the following links to directly access a particular election service for additional information:
