FLORENCE-FIRESTONE “MEETING OF THE MINDS”

ECONOMIC SYMPOSIUM

 

LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles County Workforce Investment Board (WIB), in coordination with the Florence-Firestone Chamber of Commerce, will convene a “Meeting of the Minds” Economic Symposium, on Thursday, June 25, 2009, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at Don Chente’s Bar & Grill, 2144 E. Florence Ave., Walnut Park, CA 90255.

 

This solution-oriented symposium will tie directly to the implementation of the WIB’s strategic

goals to identify and meet workforce needs in key industry sectors/clusters and provide

leadership on workforce issues by convening and facilitating public and      private

stakeholders to impact the economic health of the region.  This event will present a great

opportunity for workforce leaders and other stakeholders to join an important

discussion on the workforce needs of business, and explore strategies to improve

employment for the low income residents of the Florence-Firestone area of Los

Angeles County.

 

Guest speakers and other attendees will include over 70 leaders of workforce development, business, economic development, education, government, labor unions, healthcare, and law enforcement.

 

Joint sponsors of the event are the Los Angeles County Workforce Investment Board, the Florence-Firestone Chamber of Commerce, and United Way of Greater Los Angeles.

 

The Chair of the Los Angeles County WIB and other workforce leaders will be available for interviews between 12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m.
