ANTONOVICH SUPPORTS LEGISLATION TO ENSURE EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS FOR CALIFORNIA VETERANS

LOS ANGELES COUNTY – Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich introduced a motion supporting legislation to allow California veterans to receive college tuition under the          Post 9-11 G.I. Bill.  The Veterans Educational Equity Act (McKeon, R-CA) permits California veterans to use up to the full $6,586.54 benefit to offset tuition and fees.

“This vital legislation will give California veterans the same rights as those in the other 49 states,” said Antonovich.

If approved by the Board of Supervisors next Tuesday, the Executive Officer will send a five-signature letter of support to the County’s Congressional Delegation, the Education and Labor Committee and the Armed Service Committees expressing the Board’s full support of the Veterans Educational Equity Act.
