"AG DAY LA" TEACHES CITY KIDS ABOUT ORIGINS OF FOOD, FABRIC, AND
CLOTHING

http://www.AGDAYLA.com

WHO: Over 4,500 Third and fourth grade students from Los Angeles,
Orange, and San Bernardino counties, the County of Los Angeles
Department of Agricultural Commissioner/Weights and Measures, the Los
Angeles County Farm Bureau, California Women for Agriculture, and the
48th District Agricultural Association

WHAT: AG DAY LA at the 48th District Agricultural Association's
Schools' Agriculture and Nutrition Fair. For the ninth year, third
and fourth grade students and their teachers have been invited to
discover how water, plants, bees, fiber, food, and dairy contribute to
what we find in our stores and restaurants.

WHERE: Fairplex Pomona - Big Red Barn and 48th DAA Fair - Building #10

WHEN: 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM - Wednesday, April 21 and Thursday, April 22

WHY: Getting hands-on with interactive activities, seeing a mobile
dairy, meeting farm animals up close, and visiting with agriculture
professionals will leave a lasting impression on the students, who
mostly live a life disconnected from the source of the agricultural
elements in their lives. This is their chance to learn about farming
and the preservation of a healthy food supply by discovering the
connections between what we eat, drink, and wear, the environment, and
how various professions contribute to producing our goods while
preserving the environment.

The County Board of Supervisors has approved a motion by Supervisor
Michael D. Antonovich proclaiming Wednesday, April 21 and Thursday,
April 22 as "AG DAY LA."
