DEPUTIES HONORED FOR COMBATING HATE CRIMES RESULTING
IN THE ELIMINATION OF A VICIOUS STREET GANG
WHO: CHIEF CECIL RHAMBO, CHIEF NEAL TYLER AND CAPTAIN JIM THORNTON, LOS ANGELES COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT; UNITED STATES ASSISTANT ATTORNEY GENERAL THOMAS PEREZ, UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, CIVIL RIGHTS DIVISION; AND HONORED SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT PERSONNEL.
WHAT: CHIEF RHAMBO AND CHIEF TYLER WILL ACCEPT AN AWARD FROM THE ANTI-DEFAMATION LEAGUE FOR THE DEPARTMENT’S SHARE TOLERANCE PROGRAM. CAPTAIN THORNTON WILL FORMALLY RECOGNIZE DEPARTMENT EMPLOYEES FOR THEIR INVESTIGATIVE EFFORTS AND INTERDEPARTMENTAL COOPERATION THAT CULMINATED IN 210 INDICTMENTS AGAINST A VICIOUS STREET GANG IN LOS ANGELES COUNTY. HONOREES WILL BE PRESENTED WITH A GROUP AWARD FOR COMBATING HATE CRIME AND RACIAL VIOLENCE.
