MEDIA ADVISORY   Child Abuse as Seen Through the Eyes of Students on Display at Dorothy Chandler Pavilion Winners of the Child Abuse Prevention Month Student Poster Contest honored for raising awareness
What:	Each year, April is designated as National Child Abuse Prevention Month.  The Los Angeles County and ICAN Associates will honor the winners of the 2010 Child Abuse Prevention Month Student Poster Contest "Let's Take Care of Our Children" at a reception at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on April 29, 2010 from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.  The Child Abuse Prevention Month Student Poster Contest is open to all 4th through 6th grade students in Los Angeles County.  This annual project is designed as a teacher directed lesson to educate students and raise their awareness on issues of child abuse and child abuse prevention.  This year almost 800 children submitted posters bringing the total participation of this project to over 15,000 students since 1998.
Who:	2010 Poster Art Contest Winners: Olga Guseva, Grand Prize Winner, and winners Jae Hyun Lim, Ashley Pak, Eugene Park, Anthony Halturin, Mardy Diaz,  Lindsey Druitt, Claudia Yan, Colette Lee and Cassandra Avila   The winners and their parents, teachers and principals will join ICAN Council Members and ICAN Associates.  Sheriff Leroy Baca, ICAN Council Chairman, Deanne Tilton Durfee, ICAN Executive Director and Beverly Kurtz, ICAN Associates Poster Contests Chair will present the students and their teachers with their awards.   Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services Director Trish Ploehn.
