Calling All Potential Candidates, and Jamiel's Law Update By Walter Moore, Candidate For Mayor of Los Angeles, WalterMooreForMayor.com October 16, 2008 Did you know that more than half of the City Council seats come up for election on March 3, 2009? More than half -- as in, we could get a MAJORITY of the City Council seats. And several of the incumbents currently have no challenger at all, much less challengers who pledge to end "sanctuary city" policies. Did you know that none of the three candidates running for City Attorney opposes Special Order 40? And did you know that neither of the people running for City Controller is a C.P.A. or experienced controller, and one of them is City Council Member Wendy Greuel? Your City needs YOU to run for office. Let's form a slate of candidates to take control not just of the Mayor's office, but of these other positions as well. Imagine what we could do with a majority on the City Council, and a City Attorney and City Controller committed to enforcing our immigration laws, ending waste and cronyism, and making every neighborhood a safe neighborhood. If you or anyone you know is even pondering the possibility of running for office, please attend the City Clerk's meeting THIS SATURDAY on how to run for office. Here's where and when the meeting will take place: Saturday, October 18, 2008, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Piper Technical Center - Election Division Office 555 Ramirez Street Space 300 Los Angeles, CA 90012 If you have questions, contact the City Clerk's office. In other news, Althea Shaw let me know last night that the Shaw Family now has 40,000 signatures to put Jamiel's Law on the petition! Wow! That's more than half of the number needed to get it on the ballot. Forty thousand people willing to put their name and address on a petition is a big deal. We're going to fix this City, as long as YOU keep taking action. Ghandi said it best, "First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win." |
