Jamiel's Law Hearing Monday Morning - Room Change

Jamiel's Law Hearing Monday Morning - Room Change
By Walter Moore, Candidate for Mayor of Los Angeles, WalterMooreForMayor.com
October 26, 2008

City Hall has figured out that hundreds of us are showing up for this hearing, so they moved it to a bigger room: the City Council Chamber on the third floor of City Hall. The time, date and address are the same: 9:00 a.m. on Monday, October 27, 2008, 200 North Spring Street, Los Angeles 90012.

I hope you can join us, and fill out a speaker card so you can make a public comment. I plan to ask the Committee to put Jamiel's Law on the March 3, 2009 ballot, so the Shaws, who have collected 40,000 signatures so far, can stop having to re-live their loss, over and over, by stopping people at supermarkets to explain why we need their signatures. You could ask the Committee to do the same thing.

Click here to see the agenda. Subjects 3 and 4 deal with Special Order 40 and, though they do not mention it, Jamiel's Law.

Subject 1, by the way, deals with Villaraigosa's and Bratton's failure to process rape kits, a subject about which Kevin James has reported for weeks if not months.
