LOS ANGELES COUNTY OPENS LOCAL ASSISTANCE CENTER

FOR VICTIMS OF THE MAREK AND SESNON FIRE

LOA ANGELES COUNTY -- In coordination with the State Office of Emergency Services,

the Los Angeles County Operational Area will open a Local Assistance Center Tuesday for victims of the Marek and Sesnon Fires, announced Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich.

The Local Assistance Center will serve as a one-stop source for disaster relief services, including information on how to replace records lost in the fire, file insurance claims and apply for assistance and housing.  It will provide a single place for victims of the wildfire to get help in starting their recovery process.

At the request of Supervisor Antonovich and the County Board of Supervisors, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger issued a State of Emergency declaration for Los Angeles and Ventura Counties for the October 2008 wildfires.  This declaration will assist fire victims with resources such as grants and temporary housing, disaster unemployment assistance, and low interest loans for businesses.

The Local Assistance Center will be open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  The hours and days are subject to change.  The Local Assistance Center will be located at Dexter Park, 11053 N. Trail Road, Kagel Canyon 91342 and will be represented by state, county, and local agencies including:
