The “now what?” of healthcare reform

The Senate Democrats have lost their filibuster proof majority and even the President has said that healthcare legislation needs to be pared down so that it can pass. If lawmakers can reach a consensus and pass reform what will it mean for the millions of uninsured Americans? Is this legislation a good jumping off point or merely a toy soldier in the fight for reform? Patt talks with former President and CEO of the Mayo clinic, Dr. Denis Cortese about how to secure a sustainable health-care-delivery system.

Guests:

Dr. Denis Cortese, former president and CEO of the Mayo Clinic and now leads the Arizona State University W.P. Carey School’s Healthcare Delivery and Policy Program.

“I Love You, I Hate You, I’m Hungry”

It’s always interesting when a book's opening paragraph states, “This is the best book ever. That’s all you need to know. Trust us.” How do you follow that? Simple, with 181 pages of hilarious single-panel cartoons penned by Bruce Eric Kaplan, the TV producer/writer and frequent contributor to The New Yorker. We talk to Mr. Kaplan about his array of professions, his inspirations for the book, and his mixture of simplistic design and witty dark humor. It will be the best interview ever. Trust us.
