Sheriff welcomes first chemical and biological threat-detecting canine to department

 

                    

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

THE NATION’S FIRST CHEMICAL AND BIOLOGICAL THREAT DETECTING K-9 BECOMES

THE NEWEST MEMBER OF THE SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT

           

 

WHO:              SHERIFF LEE BACA AND PERSONNEL FROM THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT’S HAZMAT DETAIL.

                       

WHAT:            THE SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT WILL UNVEIL THE NEWEST TOOL IN THE HAZMAT DETAIL’S WEAPONS DETECTION ARSENAL.  THIS ONE-OF-A-KIND TOOL IS JOHNNY RINGO, WHO IS A LABRADOR RETRIEVER.  JOHNNY RINGO AND HIS HANDLER ARE THE ONLY CANINE TEAM IN THE COUNTRY THAT CAN DETECT CHEMICAL AND BIOLOGICAL WEAPONS.  THIS WILL ALLOW THE SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT TO LOCATE THESE WEAPONS BEFORE THEY ARE DISPERSED INTO THE ENVIRONMENT.
