SUPERVISOR RIDLEY-THOMAS APPLAUDS BOARD’S APPROVAL OF PUBLIC PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP FUNDING FOR HEALTH CLINICS IN UNDERSERVED AREAS

LOS ANGELES – The Board of Supervisors today approved the distribution of nearly $46 million in Public Private Partnership health clinic expansion funds for underserved areas of the County, including South Los Angeles.

The funds will also benefit East Los Angeles, the Antelope and San Gabriel Valleys and, to a lesser extent, the South Bay.

“This funding helps improve the equity in distribution of scarce County clinic funds and high need areas are receiving a fairer share of County funds,” Supervisor Ridley-Thomas said.

The funding includes $17.2 million for expanded free and low-cost private clinics in the Supervisor’s Second District, and support for eight school-based health center sites at Carson High School, Dominguez High School, Hyde Park School, Manual Arts High School, Washington High School, Jordan High School, Locke High School and Bunch Middle School.

The Supervisor noted that free and low cost clinics in South Los Angeles demonstrated the capacity to grow with investment, adding that each performed well in the competitive grant process.
