RE: Coroner Inquiry into Influenza-Related Deaths

The Los Angeles County Department of Coroner is inquiring into the deaths of two recently hospitalized males.

No autopsies have yet been conducted and only preliminary inquiries have been made into laboratory testing ordered by each of the hospitals to determine what specimens or cultures were collected and what the status of that testing is.

·         Case # 1 – Long Beach male in his 30’s –  Laboratory testing pending, Swine Flu not suspected.

·         Case #2 – La Mirada male in his 40’s – Preliminary laboratory testing has indicated that death not related to Swine Flu

The Coroner has made no official/final ruling as to the cause of death in either case.
