MEDIA ADVISORY
‘All For The Love of Kids’ Event to Benefit Los Angeles County Foster Youth
WHAT: The 13th Annual “All For The Love of Kids” awards dinner and fundraiser, hosted by Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich, will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2008, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Edwards Renaissance 14 Theatres located at One East Main Street in Alhambra. This year’s theme, “Always and Forever,” reflects the importance of permanent and loving relationships for children in foster care. Photos of children who are a part of the Los Angeles Heart Gallery and are awaiting adoption will be featured at the event, along with information on how to adopt a child through Los Angeles County. A family who has adopted children through the Heart Gallery will speak at the event. Permanent homes are needed for over 500 children living in foster care.
“All For The Love of Kids” was initiated in 1995 by Supervisor Antonovich to support the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) Families and Children’s Trust Fund. Proceeds from this fundraising event go directly to the Trust Fund which provides financial assistance for services and goods that cannot be paid for with government funding such as orthodontia, school clothing, educational trips, special medical needs, music lessons and team sports. Last year, the Trust Fund awarded almost $150,000 to enrich the lives of L.A. County foster youth.
WHO: Attendees include Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich, DCFS Director Patricia S. Ploehn and event MC, KCBS News TV Personality Vera Jimenez. Honorees include Jim Nicolay, Roam Gunn and Kristen Green, who helped make the 2008
