NOMINATION FILING DEADLINE APPROACHES FOR  NOVEMBER 4, 2008 GENERAL ELECTION

 

Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk (RR/CC) Dean Logan announced that the deadline to submit nomination papers for independent candidates and those who plan to run for local nonpartisan offices in the November 4, 2008 General Election is Friday, August 8, at 5:00 p.m.  For School and Community College Districts, the nomination deadline is August  8 , at 5:00 p.m.  (See attached list of local nonpartisan offices to be filled.)

 

The nomination extension period for non-incumbents filing late concludes on Wednesday, August 13 at 5:00 p.m.  (NOTE: the RR/CC is closed on Saturdays, and Sundays).  The extension period applies to candidates for positions in Health Care, Municipal Water, Water Replenishment, and Recreation and Park Districts.  There is no extension period for School and Community College Districts.   The extension period does not apply: 1) where there is no incumbent eligible to be elected, 2) when an office is vacant, and 3) to Water Agency Districts.
