SUPERVISOR MARK RIDLEY-THOMAS

 TO HONOR KIMBERLY ANYADIKE 

 YOUNGEST AFRICAN-AMERICAN FEMALE TO FLY ACROSS THE U.S. SOLO

 

WHO:         Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas to honor 15-year-old Kimberly Anyadike, the youngest African American female to fly solo across country.

 

WHAT:      In recognition of piloting a single-engine Cessna across the country, from Compton Woodley Airport to Newport News, Virginia, Supervisor Ridley-Thomas will honor the Inglewood resident at tomorrow's Board of Supervisors Meeting.

 

                   Anyadike took off from Compton Woodley Airport and navigated across country, landed several times along the way to the east coast before flying back to Compton on Saturday. 

 

                   Her phenomenal two-week journey was her way to honor the historical Tuskegee Airmen for their service and valor during World War II.
