Supervisors asked to approve sale of 9.5 acre site in Willowbrook to developer for $1 in exchange for construction of a 94 single-home development, 38 of which will be designated for low-income buyers.  (Item 1-H)  APPROVED

 

Board asked to oppose SB 3069 and HR 6156, which would designate more than 470,000 acres of public land in California as “wilderness areas”, unless amended to allow the Fire Department to continue fire prevention activities in the newly designated areas within the County.   (Item 12) APPROVED AS AMENDED BY ANTONOVICH TO SUPPORT LEGISLATION IF CHANGED TO INCORPORATE LANGUAGE CONSISTENT WITH HR 3682

 

Board asked to approve agreements for transfer of courthouses in San Pedro and Redondo Beach to the state.   (Item 16) APPROVED

 

Sheriff’s Department seeks permission to lease 9,500-square-foot site in Valencia to relieve overcrowding of current station caused by growth in area and doubling of staff.  (Item 17) APPROVED

 

Recommendation calls for relocating the downtown Skid Row health clinic to better serve clients.   (Item 18)CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER CONT. TO 9/9

 

Proposal would establish a “Green Leadership Award” to recognize individuals/organizations who are implementing innovative programs to enhance the environment.  (Item 19) APPROVED

 

Supervisors asked to approve responses to the 2007-08 Grand Jury Final Report.  (Item 21) APPROVED AS AMENDED BY ANTONOVICH AND KNABE TO REVIEW ALLOWING UP TO 10 GRAND JURORS TO SERVE A SECOND YEAR AND IMPROVING INTEGRITY AND FRAUD PREVENTION IN THE IN-HOME SUPPORTIVE SERVICES PROGRAM

 

 

 

$1.6 million proposal would bring pharmacies at Olive View-UCLA and Harbor-UCLA Medical Centers into compliance with federal regulations that ensure safe compounding of sterile medications for patients.  (Item 25) APPROVED

 

$250,000 proposal would fund additional planning and design consulting services for Marina del Rey projects. (Item 30) APPROVED

 

$170,000 plan would fund contract to evaluate transit needs in the Lennox area.   (Item 33) APPROVED

 

Acceptance of $150,000 grant would fund additional public outreach/collection efforts of used oil/oil filters in the Florence-Firestone area.  (Item 38) APPROVED

 

Recommendation would provide legal representation for an attorney in the District Attorney’s Office for an administrative proceeding brought by the State Bar for alleged violation of professional conduct.   (Item 49) APPROVED AS AMENDED TO SPEND NO MORE THAN  $10,000 FOR REPRESENTATION

 

Acceptance of $200,000 grant would fund a program to coordinate law enforcement’s anti-gang efforts.  (Item 51) APPROVED

 

$126,401 settlement proposed for claim arising from extra work and delay costs in the construction of the Belvedere Park Skatepark.  (Item 55) APPROVED

 

$425,000 settlement proposed for lawsuit concerning landslide damage to three residential properties in the Topanga area.   (Item 56) APPROVED

 

Supervisors consider naming Dean Efstathiou road commissioner.   (Item 63) APPROVED

 

Board in closed session discusses case arising from allegations that the Department of Water and Power overcharged the County and other public entities for electricity.  (Item CS-1)

 

Board in closed session discusses lawsuit seeking damages for alleged violations of plaintiff’s civil rights while incarcerated in County jail.   (Item CS-2)
