Sept. 9 Agenda Highlights

Recommendation would allow Santa Monica Conservancy to acquire 29 acres for Verdugo/Santa Susanna project, using $525,000 of Regional Park and Open Space funds.  (Item 1-P)

 

Proposal calls for relocating the downtown Skid Row health clinic to better serve clients.   (Item 14, cont. from 9/2)

 

Project would allow Sheriff’s Department to spend $2.97 million to buy electronic monitoring devices to implement a home detention program in lieu of jail.   (Item 16)

 

Recommendation calls for transferring $7.7 million in property tax overpayments to County’s general fund.  (Item 21)

 

Contract would provide $400,000 for an adult client-run mental health wellness center in Skid Row.  (Item 23)

 

$2.4 million marketing contract proposed to raise awareness, influence community norms and promote behavior that lowers risk of HIV infection.  (Item 26)

 

Supervisors asked to approve $600,000 to improve Bassett Park, including skate park.  (Item 31)

 

$4.3 million project would upgrade sewers in Marina del Rey.  (Item 32)

 

Permission requested to develop 69 detached condominium units and park on seven acres in West Athens-Westmont.  (Item 46)

 

Establishment of $10,000 reward proposed by Supervisor Yvonne B. Burke for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Florencio Zendejas, accused of being responsible for the fatal Aug. 9 hit-and-run collision that killed two Compton teenage girls.  (Item 47-A)

 

 

Board discusses in closed session a lawsuit alleging breach of contract related to the medial school affiliation agreement with Drew University.  (Item CS-1)
