RECREATION AND THE HEART OF COMPASSION

TO HOST SOUTH WHITTIER HOLIDAY EVENT

FOOD AND TOY GIVEAWAY

WHITTIER, CA – the County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation and the Heart

of Compassion will host the Mayberry Park Food and Toy Giveaway for families and their

children on Saturday, December 20, 2008, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

“I’m pleased that the County Parks and Recreation Department, along with Heart of

Compassion, are able to make the holiday season special for families who are experiencing

hardship during these difficult economic times,” said Los Angeles County Supervisor Gloria

Molina.

Food items will be distributed to the community and every child will receive a new toy. Santa

Clause will be at the event to greet the community. Musical entertainment will include live

bands and a variety of vocal performances. Additional activities will include community

information pamphlets and brochures, free hot dogs, a kid zone with arts and crafts, and games

for the children.

Registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. This event is open to all surrounding communities.
