MEDIA ADVISORY

DCFS Brings Together Residents and the Faith-Based Community for the First Annual South County Faith-Based Family Fun Day on Saturday, May 16th

WHAT:           As part of Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services’ (DCFS) effort to reach out to the community, the DCFS South County regional office along with South County churches and faith-based agencies will hold the first annual South County Faith-Based Family Fun Day on Saturday, May 16, 2009, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Houghton Park, 6301 Myrtle Ave. in Long Beach.

Residents of Long Beach and surrounding cities are invited to participate in a casual, carnival-like event where children and families can enjoy themselves while learning more about the services and support available through the local faith-based community.  Approximately 50 churches, local businesses and agencies will offer free food, games, face painting and entertainment to the approximately 2,500 residents expected to attend.  Several community leaders, foster parents, kinship caregivers and faith-based leaders will be recognized for their outstanding leadership.
