PRESS RELEASE- FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Date: August 19, 2010 Contact: Michelle Roache (562)217-1299 Evelina Villa (562)322-8762 L.A. COUNTY ANIMAL CARE & CONTROL Unincorporated community of Agua Dulce, CA—The Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control (DACC) served a warrant to investigate a property in Saugus after receiving a complaint of suspected animal neglect. Previous attempts to gain access to investigate these allegations were refused by the resident resulting in the need for DACC to obtain a warrant from a judge. On the morning of August 19, 2010, a warrant was served at an unlicensed kennel rescue facility in the unincorporated community of Agua Dulce, CA. Nearly 100 dogs and 200 cats were found on the property living in unsanitary conditions with lack of adequate care. Many of the animals were found to be emaciated and/or sick and it was determined necessary to seize all of the animals for exigent circumstances. The animals were transported to County of Los Angeles animal shelters for necessary veterinary evaluation, observation, and treatment. The adoptability of some of these animals may be pending further investigation, but if you are interested in adopting or fostering any of these animals, please visit one of the animal shelters listed below.
