ANTONOVICH ORDERS REPORT ON IMPACT TO COUNTY RESULTING FROM MAYWOOD AND BELL OUTSOURCING DEAL

LOS ANGELES COUNTY – Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich has ordered a full report of the financial and legal impact on the county resulting from the agreement the city of Maywood made to have Bell provide its municipal services and what impact the agreement will have on the county, if either Maywood or Bell revert back to unincorporated county status.

In late June, Maywood fired most of its employees and turned municipal operations over to Bell.  In light of the recent scandal in Bell, Maywood is now rethinking that strategy which may require the county to assume the responsibility for vital municipal services.
