HART MUSEUM (HART)

The Hart Museum's mansion will be closed during the month of September for renovations to the original historic home. Please visit the Hart Ranch House to view the Hart Collection on exhibit. SPIDER PAVILION (NHM)

Open September 26 through November 7

While the butterflies are away, the spiders come out to play on the Museum's South Lawn! Get up close and personal with these shy and fragile creatures; marvel at their beauty and at the magnificent webs they produce. Separate admission ticketing applies; members are always free. CRITTER CLUB: WHAT'S IN THE GARDEN? (NHM)

Saturday, September 18; 10 am and 11 am

Special Date Change! Come with us and explore our gardens! See who is living under the leaves and dirt — pill bugs, sow bugs, snails, and worms. We will make tiny homes for your new friends, and listen to buggy stories! Wriggle on over for a fun adventure! Critter Club is for 3- to 5-year-olds and a participating adult. GARDENING CLASSES (NHM)

Sunday, September 19, 26; October 3, 10; 1 pm−4 pm

Master Gardener Florence Nishida will teach gardening basics for beginners. Learn about creating good soil, watering and feeding — how much and how often, starting plants from seeds, transplanting, and making compost. NATIVE AMERICAN POWWOW (HART)

Saturday, September 25, 10 am−7 pm; Sunday, September 26, 10 am−6 pm

A SAN ANDREAS ODYSSEY (OFFSITE)

Saturday, October 2; 9 am-5 pm

On this field trip led by Museum Malacology Collections Manager Lindsey Groves, we'll see firsthand the fault's topographical effects on this fun and educational journey. Bring a sack lunch to be enjoyed at a fault-formed lake high in the San Gabriel Mountains after multiple stops along the fault. Lunch and transportation provided. REPTILE AND AMPHIBIAN APPRECIATION DAY (NHM)

Sunday, October 3; 9:30 am-5 pm

Join us for a day-long celebration of the slimy and scaly at the second-annual RAAD. Get to know reptiles and frogs from around the world and right here at home. The whole family will enjoy up-close animal encounters, art projects, hands-on activities, and a chance to meet professional herpetologists. The Page Museum at the La Brea Tar Pits is at 5801 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA, 90036.  Open seven days a week 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets $7 for adults, $4.50 for students and seniors, and $2 for children ages 5-12. Admission is free for children under 5 and Museum members. Admission is also free for everyone on the first Tuesday of every month.
