Type of Incident: Sex Registrant Compliance Operation in Maywood
Location of Incident: City of Maywood
On Wednesday, August 25, 2010, detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement (SAFE) Team conducted a sex registrant compliance sweep in the city of Maywood in an effort to monitor and track the 44 registered sex offenders in the city. The SAFE Team worked closely with the East Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station detectives to ensure the registrants in the city of Maywood were complying with their registration requirements. Five registrants were found to be deported and one was registered at the East Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station.
The Los Angeles County Regional SAFE Team is a multi-agency task force specifically designed to monitor and track registered sex offenders in Los Angeles County. It is comprised of members of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Los Angeles County Probation Department, and the California Department of Corrections Parole Division.
